অনেকের কাছে অনেক গল্প শুনে দুই বছর আগে গিয়েছিলাম কলেজ স্ট্রিটের গুঞ্জনে চাইনিজ খেতে। এখানকার চিলি পর্কের কথা খুব শুনেছিলাম। তবে খাবার খেয়ে বেশ হতাশ হতে হয়।পরিমানে বেশ কম ছিল এবং স্বাদেও খুবই সাধারন লেগেছিল।

আজ আবার গিয়ে পৌঁছলাম সেই একই জায়গায়, সেই একই জায়গায় বসলাম আর অর্ডার করলাম,

রাইস নুডলসটা বাদে সবকিছুতেই অসাধারন স্বাদ। উয়িংস গুলো তো বসে বসে সারাদিন খেয়ে যাওয়া যায় এত ভাল। রাইসেও খুব সুন্দর সেজওয়ান সসের স্বাদ পেলাম, যা টক-মিষ্টি চিকেনের সাথে দারুন খেতে লেগেছে।
আক্ষেপ একটাই। পর্কটা ট্রাই করা হল না।
পরেরবার হবে না হয়।

💥 Gunjan Chinese Food is small and pocket friendly place and very famous for it's authentic Chinese cuisine. Yesterday I had visited their outlet which is located at Surya Sen Street of College Street - Kolkata
and few minutes walking distance from College Square Swimming Club
✴ Ambience of this place was not beautifully decorated but simple and nicely decorated by wall hangings.
🔺️It is a perfect and most beautiful place for students to hangout with their friends and they can also grab a quick bite during the break time.
🍚🍽 I had tried Chicken Fried Rice with Garlic Chicken. Taste of these foods was so delicious.
🍗🥘 A full plate of Garlic Chicken had 8 boneless piece. Taste was amazing. Not so spicy. Chicken was so soft and infused with spices. It is sufficient for two person. They also provide half plate which had 4 piece and perfect for one.
🍱Chicken Fried Rice was absolutely perfect item with garlic Chicken. Each and every ingredients of rice was well steamed and flavourful.

♦️ They also have variety menu in Chinese item of soup, noodles, chopsui, fish, chicken and speacially pork which are all in very pocket friendly prices.

দুর্গাপুজোয় অনেক ছোট-বড় রেস্তোরাঁয় খাওয়া হলেও, আমরা একটা দিন এমন রাখি, যেদিন ছোট eatery, রাস্তার দোকানের উপর নির্ভর করে আমাদের সারাদিনের খাওয়া-দাওয়া। এই বছর এমন দিন হিসেবে আমরা বেঁছে নিয়েছিলাম সপ্তমীর দিনটাকে।
এইদিন আমরা গিয়েছিলাম শিয়ালদহ হয়ে কলেজ স্ট্রিটের দিকে। আর কলেজ স্ট্রিট মানেই, লাঞ্চ হবে গুঞ্জনে।

পুজোর সময়ে ভেবেছিলাম ওই ছোট জায়গায় খাবার পেতে হয়তো ঘণ্টা খানেক অপেক্ষা করতে হবে। কিন্তু তা হয়নি।
পৌঁছে দেখি তিনটের মধ্যে দুটি টেবিল ফাঁকা। বেশ আনন্দিত হয়ে ক্ষিদে পেটে গিয়ে বসলাম একটা টেবিল আগলে। এখানে গত কয়েক বছরে বেশ অনেকবার খেয়েছি। পর্কের জন্যে বেশ নামডাক থাকলেও, ওইদিন আমরা ভরসা রেখেছিলাম চিকেনে, কারন দুইদিন আগেই আরেক জায়গায় জংলি পর্ক ঠাসিয়েছিলাম বেশ ৭-৮ পিস। তাই বেশী রিস্ক না নিয়ে অর্ডার করলাম,

মিক্সড রাইস এখানে প্রথম খেলাম। পর্ক থাকে না। থাকে প্রণ, চিকেন ও ডিম। বেশ ভালো খেতে। ঝরঝরে রাইস, হালকা সেজওয়ান সসের গন্ধ, যেকোনো সাইডের সাথে ভালো যায় বেশ। কুং-পাও চিকেনটা আমার পার্সোনালি বেশ ভালো লেগেছে। Star-anis-এর গন্ধ যাদের ভালো লাগে না, তাদের ভালো নাও লাগতে পারে। ছোট ছোট চিকেনের টুকরো বেশ অনেক গুলি। ঝাল তেমন না। তবে বেশ ভালো খেতে। সুইট অ্যান্ড স্পাইসি উইংস আমাদের এখানে সব থেকে প্রিয়। ঝাল-ঝাল উইংস, রসুন, লঙ্কা ও সুইট চিলি সসে টস করা। দুর্দান্ত লাগে খেতে। সেদিন ও লাগল। এতই ভালো লাগলো, যে আরও হাফ প্লেট অর্ডার করতে বাধ্য হলাম।
খাওয়া দাওয়া শেষে বিল হল মাত্র ৪০০ টাকা। এই দিনেও গুঞ্জন যে খাবারের দাম এখনও আগের মতই রেখেছে এটা সত্যিই প্রশংসার যোগ্য।

I believe there comes a time in your life when you go back memory lane and want to relive those moments of happiness spent before. For me being a food enthusiast my good nostalgic memories is somewhere related to food mostly, hence i instantly decided that why not visit some iconic places around College Street and have fun once again.
So when i came down to College Street area , the first thing that i was wanting to have was a nice heavy meal. That is when i got to know a place called "Gunjan Chinese Food". Here the first experience was simply delicious, food wise. No fancy decor, just a humble eating place with 3 to 4 tables.
I Ate Chicken Gravy Chow, Chicken Fried Rice and a few more dishes.
Then went down to the famous "Kalika" for having Fried Fish Fingers and Chicken Cutlet. I found the Fish Finger to be less on Fish and more of it's outer crispy coating nevertheless tasted nice. The Chicken Cutlet was simply pleasure. I enjoyed having it for it's fresh and flavourful preparation. Worth every penny.

Gunjan Chinese Food is a small Chinese eatery in College Street, Kolkata. It is one of those old places serving in the heart of the city celebrated as one that serves non-veg only.
The frame captures their Chili Garlic Chicken Noodles and Schezwan Chicken. The gravy wasn't what you find in the regular Schezwan items though. The noodles were pretty fine. Given the price, somewhere close to 200, the quantity is a satisfaction.

Don't expect anything else but good food - this place has been a joint for University students for ages though - a lot of relationships have grown and broken at this quaint joint 😝 - don't bother taking your car out there because there are no parking provisions and guess what - this place stays #closed on #Sunday - didn't I tell you that they are truly old-fashioned 😀

Visited this small chinese food joint in College Street on Ashtami evening 🤩
The place may look small and quite dark but trust me this is one of the best Chinese restaurant I have visited ever...we ordered one full mixed hakka noodles🍜,it was filled with lots of prawn,egg,chicken and veggies🤤🤤🤤
The best part is that the quantity,if you order one full plate noodles, two people can easily eat it🍜
Price is 150 for one plate.
The noodlee are a bit like spaghetti which makes it even more tastier,the spices are perfectly blended and everything is cooked really well.

CHILLI ROAST PORK at Gunjan Chinese Food
This place owns my heart with their Chili Roast Pork, I went there with one of my friends. We were rushing so just tried their famous Chilli Roast Pork and I can easily say this was one of the best pork I had.
Its a small place with small sitting arrangement in north kolkata built in 1990, famous for their quality Chinese Food.
Will surely visit this place to try their other dishes and Chilli Roast Pork will be on top of the list all the time.

The roast chilli pork has juicy pork meat tossed with chillies, onions and bell peppers. The meat was tender, and the quantity was definitely impressive. No matter the number of pieces you have, you’d keep licking your fingers and craving for more. Resisting their fried rice would be quiet a challenge, but the best deal to recommend is of course for the pork lovers. The pork chow is a serious hit here and is best complimented with their garlic pork. And with two portions to go by--full plate and half plate--this is absolutely convenient for your pocket. This is one the most underrated chinese resturent in kolkata.
The place was small and we had to wait a while to get a table but it was worth the wait.We tried Chili Pork(Dry) and Egg Fried Rice.One thing that we first observed that was the serving time I don't know how but they literally gave the food within just 2-5 minutes within the order placed. The chili pork was soft but we thought the fat part was more than the solid parts but still the taste was good but the rice was very much up to the mark and too good.

স্কুলের পাঠ চুকিয়ে, কলেজের গণ্ডীতে পা দিয়েই শিয়ালদহ ছেড়ে আমরা সপরিবারে ঢাকুরিয়া চলে আসি। স্কুল ছাত্রের হাতে পয়সার যেমন আকাল তেমনি ইচ্ছেও থাকে সব কিছু খুঁজে জয় করার। তাই শত নাম শুনেও "Gunjan Chinese Food" এ যাওয়া হয়নি।
এখন খাই খাই বাতিকের প্রাধান্য প্রাপ্তির পর থেকে এদিক ওদিক ঘুরে বেড়াই। তাই মাঝে মধ্যেই সেই শিকড়ের স্বাদের সন্ধানে ফিরে আসি মধ্য কোলকাতার কিছু খাবারের দোকানে।
কলেজ স্ট্রীট বই পাড়ায় ও কলেজ ছাত্রদের কাছে গুঞ্জনের নাম ও তাদের খাদ্যতালিকা একবারে আত্মস্থ। গোটা দশেক লোকের বেশি জায়গা নেই ভিতরে, এখানে খাবার জন্য ভালোই লাইন পরে, যদিও এবার অপেক্ষা করতে হয়নি। আমরা তিন বন্ধু মিলে গেলাম। অকুল সাগরের থেকে সুন্দরী ঝিনুকের খোঁজ শুরু করলাম।
◆ Schezuan Mixed Fried Rice (ঝাল ঝাল সসের পরিমাপে ব্যবহার, কি সুন্দর স্বাদ তৈরি করতে পারে সেটার যথার্থ প্রমাণ, সেরা ছিল খেতে কোনো সন্দেহ নেই)
◆ Chili Garlic Mixed Noodles (চিলি সস দিয়ে ঝাল ঝাল, প্রচুর পরিমাণে ডিম ও চিকেন দিয়ে তৈরি, তবে আমার মনে হল শুধু হাক্কা চাউ ওনারা আরো বেশি ভালো বানাবেন। এটা মোটামুটি খেতে)
◆ Boneless Chili Chicken (ছোট ছোট বোনলেস টুকরো দিয়ে ক্রিসপি চিলি চিকেন, এত ছাড়াও রোস্টেড চিলি চিকেন পাওয়া যায় পরের বার খেয়ে দেখবো।
◆ Lemon Fish (সব থেকে সাধারণ, কিন্তু থেকে বেশি ভালো। সাদা সাদা দেখতে কিন্তু লেবুর রস দিয়ে একটা দুর্দান্ত রান্না, অদ্ভুত ভালো খেতে, বার বার ফিরে আসতে হবে এটা খেতে। মাছের স্বাদ আলাদা করে পাওয়া যাবে কিন্তু কোনো উটকো গন্ধ নেই)
প্রসঙ্গে বলে রাখি, Mixed বললে, আলাদা করে বলবেন যদি Pork না খেতে চান, নয়তো ওনারা পর্ক দিয়েই করবেন। 1:2 বা 2:3 অনুপাতে অর্ডার করবেন, একা খেলে অবশ্যই হাফ প্লেট বলবেন।
এখানে স্টার্টার বলে কিছু হয়না, যেটা হয় সেটা হলো ড্রাই, সেমি ড্রাই, সেমি গ্রেভি ও গ্রেভি ভার্সন সব খাবারের।
এখানে পর্ক পাওয়া গেলেও, অতটা নামী নয়। আমার এক বন্ধুর শূকর ভীতির জন্য এখানে এবারে খাওয়া হলো না।
